Below is the Chinese New Year history:

The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year, is one of the most important traditional festivals celebrated in China and by Chinese communities around the world.

The Chinese New Year is based on the lunar calendar, with the date falling on the second new moon after the winter solstice, usually between January 21st and February 20th. Each year is associated with one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac, rotating in a twelve-year cycle. The twelve animals are the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

The Chinese New Year is celebrated with various customs and traditions, including family reunions, feasting on traditional foods, giving red envelopes (hongbao) containing money, lighting firecrackers, and displaying decorations featuring the color red and symbols of good luck and prosperity.

The festival typically lasts for fifteen days, culminating in the Lantern Festival on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month. During this time, people visit temples, perform dragon and lion dances, set off fireworks, and participate in various cultural activities to usher in good fortune and ward off evil spirits for the coming year.

In modern times, the Chinese New Year has become a global celebration, with festivities and events held in many countries with significant Chinese populations. It serves as a time for family gatherings, reflection on the past year, and anticipation for the year ahead, while also honoring ancient traditions and cultural heritage
